A Meeting, The Rain & A New Friend- Porsgrunn Week Eighty Four

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes everyone sent. I almost threw up when I realized that I am now 20 years old and have less then 100 days on my mission left....

On to more exciting news!
1. Ryan is getting  her mission call soon! YES!!!! Birminghan Mission is my guess.
2. The Kpoo readers theater team killed it! First place! Way to go!

A Meeting
We went with Jonathon and Anika to the Jehovah Witness meeting on wednesday day. It actually reminded me a lot of our church. The only difference was that they had microphones every two or so chairs that you use to share thoughts. I first thought, wow we need these in our church building, then I thought of the havok that would cause. I just imagine all the sunbeams just grabbing them and all you hear is "GWABUBWABUWBAGAUWB!!!!" WOrks for the JW's but probably not for us. It was a nice meeting and I even made a comment! A little girl came up at the end and was talking to me. Wondering who I was, why I was here, etc. Then she looked at me and said "Did you know in World War II Jehovah Witnesses never stole from eachother." I told her that was awesome and talked about when the saints in Holland donated potatoes to starving people in Germany.

The Rain
If any of you have wondered what the worst weather is, fear no more. I have the answer. It has snowed a lot in Norway the last little bit, and so there is much snow everywhere. Well, then it started to rain... We were on our way to an appointment and we got soaked... And it was almost impossible to walk because of the rain on the ice.... Luckily no casualities yet. But it is super icy, and super wet. Today is noice thought and it looks like there will be no rain!

A New Friend!
Our new friend is Arinze! He is from Nigeria. As we talked with him it was apparent he was dissatisfied with religion. He had seen to much struggling for power, and terrible things happen in the name of religion, but as we discussed the message of the restoration with him he told us how inspring the story of Joseph Smith was, and said "I am very optimistic about his book!" He is incredible and we are really excited to be teaching him!

I have been reading a lot about the early church. The struggles, the sacrafice, but also the sanctifications. The saints worked so hard to be obedient, and time and time again they were driven from their homes, their property taken away, and were forced to restart... However as I continued to read I was amazed at how some of the early saints reacted, instead of being upset and turning from the church, they considered it a blessing to struggle and sacrifice for the Savior's church. They were humbled, and full of determination. They had found the truth and would not let go! I relate a lot with that feeling. That I have found the truth and I will not let go. I think of the beloved hymn How Firm a Foundation

The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!

Love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Dream Big
Don't Doubt
Give 'em Heaven!
