Sorry about the no weekly last week, but we were just having too much fun!
First things first thank you do everyone who sent Christmas presents! It really meant a lot! Thanks to the Relief society and Sister Carpenter's seminary class for the awesome packages!
Here are some highlights from the past two weeks though!
Christmas Eve
We where at Arne and Vera Dahlø's house so we did have ris krem, and some really good whipped cream that had solbær in it! Way good food too! I mean the whole nine yards. I have really missed eating traditional Norwegian food, but they helped me with that. They had ribbe, kjøttkaker, medistekaker, and pølser! Of course you had potatoes, brown sauce, and tyttebær to go with it! We did not dance around the tree, but we sang a lot of Christmas songs with them, and then opened the presents that the members gave to us! Got some socks, chocolate, a book about John A. Widtsoe that Arne wrote (in Norwegian). We also went to a midnight mass at the Nidaros chapel. Really cool opportunity to see how others worship! Beautiful cathedral with some very beautiful music!

Christmas Day
We went to the Naylors in the morning to open some presents and then skyped home!
Second Christmas Day (actually a thing in Norway)
We got to go to Bishop's house on the 26th and that was super fun. We had a really good soup that his wife made, and then just played around with the little kids! Everyone in the family was really surprised when I gave the kids the hats I had knitted for them, thankfully they fit just right! Besides the baby's... Baby's heads are surprisingly very large. They also had some presents for us, but we played this game where you roll dice, and if you roll a 2 or 6 you get to take a present. After everyone got their presents and opened them Bishop explained what round two would consist of. If you roll a 2 or 6 you get to take a present from another person. It got really loud, and a little competitive, but I walked away with a scarf, avocado socks, and a face mask (which I gave away). Played some other board games with them, and then we came home and just relaxed!
New Years
For New years we went to the naylors and played some games, and watched The Emperor's New Groove. Soooo funny! We also watched some fireworks on a near by hill. However to get to said hill we had to walk through what I will refer to as Babylon. Basically about 100-150 teenagers were having a huge party... As we left we all started singing "Oh Babylon, Oh Babylon, we bid the farewell." To top things off when we got home to our apartment we played a game of settlers of catan, and yours truly won the first game of 2019!
One of the verses that really stuck out to me this week is in the war chapters when it talks about the nephites giving up their lands for the ammonites. THey were so willing to not only give them this land, which required those in the city to leave and go somewhere else, but the would even defend them with their lives. Even though the lamanites where there enemies, the moment they entered in the covenant that they would fight no more, and joined the church the nephites frankly forgave them, and again were willing to lay down their lives to save their newly found bretheren. How important it is to forgive and love others. Just as the Savior did, we are expected to do. Just as the nephites frankly forgave their enemies, so should we.
