A Unicorn or An Unicorn -Drammen Week Fifty Nine

Is it called sand because it is between the sea and land? Are tomatoes actually a fruit? Why does Norway not have american cereal? Questions of the soul. The original question came from a young man in the world when we where attempting to explain that English prepositions before nouns are a lot simpler. Then he said "You say a unicorn though not an unicorn." That is when my life changed forever... Anyways lets get on with the rest of the show!

Questions
Have you done any exchanges this week?
Yes we went down to Kristiansand this week and that was awesome!!

Were you in Oslo again at the Book of Mormon Musical?
Yep and there is a great story to tell!

What is the best thing that happened to you this week?
This: (A video he was supposed to send!!)

If you could change one thing about this last week what would it be?
This is kind of a shallow answer to a question that was meant to be a little deeper, but I would have changed the direction I was sitting on the train ride to Kristiansand... Siting backward on two different 4 hour train rides was not super enjoyable...

Splits in Ksand

I was with Elder Holyoak and it was awesome! We did some service for a member and helped him paint his house! He is a great YSA down there! After that we hit the streets and just contacted everybody! It was so much fun! That video above was probably my favorite part about splits though! Awesome elders in Kristiansand, a great blessing to be able to go on splits with them!

Musical

We got to go back to the musical this past Saturday and it was a great night! President and Sister Tew where there and let me just tell you something, if you thought you are/were fearless you got nothing on president and sister Tew! They talked to anybody and everybody! There are the best!

The Backpack Thief

Now here comes the only story that Elder Shanklin will be able to share when all his friends that have served in South America are telling stories about how people robbed them and stuff. Alex and Jan Runar Eliassen came to the musical with us and they are awesome and Alex brought his backpack. He took it off while handing out books, so when we left we got about two hundred yards and then his Dad asked where his backpack was? Alex ran back to get his backpack because it also had all the new school books he had just bought. Well his backpack was not there, the sisters then told us about the homeless people that had walked past and had attempted to take their jacket and camera. That is when a plan came into action. Elder Garlick and i would head to the gågata (Large walking street) where the homeless beggars usually are and try to find the thief. As we walked we saw nothing and then received a phone call from the other that the thief had been detained and the backpack was now back in the possession of the rightful honor, but no books could be found in the backpack. The other beggar eventually led them to the trash can where the books where and it was a good day! At that point it was about 10:15 at night, but because we have the coolest mission president ever we went out to get hamburgers because the member wanted to treat us!

People we are teaching

Yoel is doing really well and we will be meeting with him tomorrow and hopefully we can get him into church this sunday! He has been busy the other two weeks, but he is still one of the coolest guys I know!

Veronica is doing well too! We should hopefully have an appointment this week!

Overall I am super grateful to be here in Norway with the greatest members and the best mission president! The work is really progressing and the members here are totally amazing, and have just immersed themselves in the work! What a blessing to be in Norway!!
Having some fun
