Members Are The Greatest-Drammen Week Fifty Three

Well I will explain exactly why in a little bit, but seriously, THEY ARE SO AWESOME!!! Otherwise than that we had a great and fun week! Lots of exciting things happened! Before we get into the exciting details let us dive into some Shout Outs!

1. Lucy should be getting her mission call pretty soon! Exciting, exciting! I am going to guess somewhere in Scandinavia, but mostly just because these three missions are the best missions in the world!
2. The Eliassens! Check the section titled "I love Members!"
3. The Hills! So thankful for everything they did to help us as missionaries! The Best Mission President and Wife that I have had!

Question and Answer

Q: How are things going with Elder Garlick and I?
A: Awesomely! Having lots of fun and I am learning how to knit a sweater!

Q: Are there other missionaries in Drammen?
A: Yes, we have the Sisters here as well!

Q: Are we getting a lot of missionaries?
A: Hopefully! Our mission will be dropping to about 70 missionaries so we will be losing a couple, but quality over quantity, am I right?

Q: 4th of July?
A: We will probably listen to the national anthem all day and grill some burgers! That is probably it!

MLC

MLC stand for Mission Leadership Council, and is when all the Zone Leaders, STLs, Assistants, and The Mission President get together and talk about things! It was great to see all the homies again! Over half of our MTC group was at MLC so that was incredible! Also got to see the homeboy Eldste Cribbs! Love that man!!!!!!! We talked a lot about our roles as leaders, and what we can do to positively impact the behavior of other missionaries! Way good opportunity to learn and to grow! That was the last time I would see and be with President Hill and Sister Hill until after the mission! I would have pictures, but my camera is in Oslo... I may or may not have left it there...

New Mission President!!

We have a new mission president!! However it is not President Tew. He and his wife are visa waiters. The Quorum of The Twelve Apostles along with The First Presidency have called President and Sister Carlsen to be our mission president and wife while we wait for the Tews. They are from Sandvika which is right next to Oslo! He was mission president in Sweden, so I am really excited to work with and learn from him! No mater how long he is here or how short he is here!

I LOVE MEMBERS!!!!!!

Most of you know that I love American Cereal. Well since I have been craving frosted flakes for about 4-5 weeks, I decided to check ever grocery store in Drammen and ask every member if they know where we can find Frosties(The European version of Frosted Flakes). There were many attempts, but store after store, after store, after store, after store not only did I walk about of grocery stores empty handed but with an empty heart... On fast sunday as we were sitting waiting to have our meeting with our Ward Mission Leader, Marion Eliassen shows up and hands me a mega box of Frosties... I do not think I have been happier in my life. Her husband and son were in Sweden and thought to stop and buy me cereal... Members are literally the best!! Especially the ones here in Norway! Besides buying me cereal, the members here have incredible faith, are strong in the Gospel, and are amazing examples of how to be a light unto the world!!

Splits!!

This week i got to go on splits with Eldste Sadler who is serving in Sandika! We had an awesome time visiting members, doing service, and joking around! We got to visit a less active who asked to take the missionary lessons again!!!! She wants to regain that faith she once had! It will be exciting to work with her in the future! Also we helped  a member weed and take out the dirt in between her brick that were laid on the ground. Hope that made sense... It took a while, but we had a blast while doing it, so no complaints!

This week I began studying the Book of Mormon trying to learn more about the Profiles of the Prophets! There are dozens of prophets in the Book of Mormon but I have really enjoyed studying about Nephi and his profile! One verse that i really loved about Nephi is 1 Nephi 11:17 and the Holy Ghost had just asked Nephi if he understands why Christ preformed the Atonement, and Nephi responds in verse 17, saying,

17 I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.

That is who Nephi is. He may not know everything, but he does know the important things! He continues to seek for answers, but he does not become overwhelmed, but rather focuses on those small and simple truths! God does love us his children and as Nephi said, I do not know everything, but I do know that God loves his children, and because He loves His children He called Joseph Smith to restore Christ's church again so all God's children can find happiness in this life and everlasting joy in the life to come!
