We Met The King Of Norway or Was He The Knight of Templar?-Tromso Week Fifteen

Hey everybody back at it again from Tromsø, Norway it is your missionary Eldste Shanklin! This week was full of some fun stories and hard work! Before that though let's just remember that all of you are amazing people! Without further adue (that is probably not how you spell that) let's get into the week!

Monday
We had lunch with a friend from the street named Henning! He is a super awesome guy who we are good friends with! After lunch we sat on the harbor and just talked with him about life for a little bit! He is a way nice guy!

Tuesday
We had district meeting and this time Elder Miller made some really good fish soup and sandwhich sliders for us!! Torstein was busy so we were not able to meet with him, but we had some studies to do so we decided to chill on a bench and study the language while playing on a tight rope!

I love this picture...my Norwegian Missionary!
Wednesday
Really awesome because we met with Geraldo today, the most recent baptism into the Tromsø branch! He is such a nice guy and we were able to help answer his questions about the scriptures!! We also got to street contact for a little bit and we contacted a guy who may have not been 100% there... He said he was the king of Norway, and the blood of the dragon tail was in Northern Norway in a place only he knew. I love people! It really is fun contacting because you never know what you are gonna get!! We also had young mens with the Quershis up in Svalbard which is always a party!!

Thursday
Today started with a visit to Arvid and actually before that we ran into our friend from Wednesday. He Told us a lot about how he was a knight of templar, he is in charge of the ring of power, which he gave to his younger brother who is also a knight of templar. He also talked about quantam physics for a little bit. He knows a lot of information! We then had koshelig kveld and we played some board games. I played farkel and wacky six, both of which were very fun to play!! Northern Lights again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it's a little cold in Norway
Friday
Kind of a rough day... We went out to contact people on the streets and got a lot of rude comments back from people. Some guy also shoved me a little, but that really does not phase me from going out and doing the same thing tomorrow! There are people in Tromsø that are ready to receive the Gospel and I am not gonna let anything stop me from finding them! We had a member middag tonight with Lil! She is awesome member here who also helps us with the language every Saturday! We had ris grit which is like oatmeal but with rice instead of oats. You sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top... but DO NOT MIX! I REPEAT DO NOT MIX THE BOWL! I do not know why but that is not okay to do to ris grit in Norway. You just eat it bite by bite. It was amazing and can not tell you how much I enjoyed it!!

Saturday
Language study with Lil started off our day! We went out again to contact and people really did not want to talk to us again... We kept going and talking to everybody! We were on our way back for lunch and we could see our door. It would have been easy to say we tried, lets just go get lunch. However I decided to contact a young man right before we went inside. His name is Christopher and he was willing to meet with us! Truly a blessing! The Lord will bless us as long as we do everything we can! The slogan is now " After you have done all you can, then, and only then, can you look to God and say 'Your Turn'!" We also met with Brother Gerez and his wife! Such wonderful people I can not tell you how nice they are!!!! Northern lights again! I am coming back for this

The Greatest Gift....The Book of Mormon

Sunday
Awesome sacrament meeting!! Henrik came to sacrament meeting even though he only got 2 hours of sleep the night previous! He is such a stud! Really dedicated to coming to church and overall a really nice guy!! Since it has been a year since my Dad passed away we did something special! We went banking!!!! It was awesome!! We had a two and a half hour banking session!!! It was sweet! We gave out two Books of Mormon!!

As I think about the passing away of my father I am reminded of the beautiful promise that my family has recieved because of this Gospel and because of Jesus Christ! We will be able to see and live with each other as a family again!! I am so thankful for that knowledge and for my savior! It truly is because of him...
