Thank you for attending a meeting for the Elder Shanklin fan club! Our first order of business will be addressing the fan mail. Sadly I believe most of you most have the wrong address so sadly most of it is getting lost! However never fear you can still send them to the address listed below! Second Order of Business, you are a studs! Third order, I ran out of things to say, so let us just delve in to this week! Grab a drink, a snack, and buckle up because we are in for a ride!
Monday
We played dungeons and dragons with Petter! It was a new experience and took your imagination, but we had an awesome time!!
Tuesday
We went to Romerike for splits with our zone leaders down there! I was with Elder Dial, who, is the older brother of the Elder Dial I met in the MTC! We went to help a investigator move something, we were not quite sure what. We got to the place she told us to meet her and we were going to help her unscrew and move a porch. Elder Dial and I thought no big deal we have three drills we can do this pretty fast. Wrong... The screws were buried in the wood like 4 inches in so you had to dig them out and then try to unscrew them. Well since the wood was wet the screws did not have anything to grip onto and just would not come out... So after trying our best for 45 minutes we could only get out like 7 screws... Really frustrating, but we tried our best...
Wednesday
So today I was with Elder Applegate and it was a legendary day! We started off with our normal studies and then we hit the streets to contact! We had some awesome conversations, and gave out a Book of Mormon and a pamphlet on the Plan of Salvation! Now here is were it gets even better, we had a dinner appointment tonight and it was 40 minutes away so we had to drive there. Turn of events, Elder Applegate does not have his license, which means yours truly gets to drive... We left to go to our Dinner appointment 2 hours and 30 minutes early so we could go bank on some doors! We got there, and no one was harmed by my driving, and started banking on doors. We had some awesome conversations and gave out another BOM, #2! We then saw some house in the distance, in a construction zone and Elder Applegate asked " Do you wanna go there, we do not know if anyone lives there." I turned to him and said "Some one has got to figure out at some point Elder, might as well be us!" With that we went to those doors, and the first door we knocked on was a super nice young father with two little kids, a daughter and a son! We talked to him about the Book of Mormon and He said he would love to have a copy, we gave a him a chapter to read, and got an appointment to meet with him again, Book of Mormon #3!! We then saw a guy pull into his driveway and he was getting out of his car and we talked with him and got another book of Mormon to read, #4!! Well we ran out of time to bank because we had to go to dinner! The family was super wonderful and the mother made some amazing rice and chicken!! We then had Ice Cream and Maple Syrup which reminded me of Elf!! If any of you know I love dogs, and this family and a hug Malamute Husky!! I was so happy!!

Friday
We did some great missionary work and had an awesome day! Nothing too exciting to report! Northern lights happened again!!!!!!!
Saturday
If you thought Wednesday was long to read you better be ready because today was a day that will go down in history! We first met with Rouven who is the german young man we met 2 weeks ago! He was very receptive to what we were teaching and very interested in the LDS faith! We got him a German Book of Mormon and he said he would read! We have an appointment with him next Tuesday! We then went to prepare to teach Idris, our investigator from Syria who we teach over skype, and we were discussing if we should ask him to be baptized. We decided that we would and then wondered if we should still keep October 4th as his baptismal date. We thought that October 4th might be too soon, but decided that October 4th was the right date because we had prayed and felt that that should be his baptismal date! As we went to teach Idris we had one of our members, Brother Carlos Gerez, offer to be on the teach with us! After more prayer we felt instantly prompted to accept his offer and have him on the teach! We had a wonderful spiritual lesson about how obedience to God's commandments brings blessings and specifically how the commandment of baptism brings so many blessings! Brother Gerez explained how in his life he could draw a line between before his baptism and after his baptism and how much for love, peace, and happiness he felt in his life after baptism!! I love our Members here!! As we were approaching the end of the lesson I shared how my life has been bless by baptism. Being a part of this church allowed the death of my Father to being a faith building experience and allowed me to focus on the blessings I received! I then asked him to be baptized and he said yes!!!!!!!!!!!! We then told him the date of October 4th is when we felt he should be baptized. Idris asked us why we chose October 4th. We explained how we had prayed and felt very strongly that he should be baptized on that date. He responded that he already had planned a trip to come to Tromsø and visit us on October 4th... i literally almost started just screaming... I was so happy! He is coming Tromsø October 4th and is going to be baptized!! The Lord's hand is in his work and he truly guided us as we taught Idris! This is no ones baptism but the Lord's baptism!
Sunday
We had an amazing Sunday, and Rouven and Idris were both at church!! Super exciting!! Things are happening in Tromsø and I am so happy that people are having the opportunity to receive the joy and happiness this gospel brings!!
I now have a strong testimony of prayer! Please if you have questions about anything just ask your Father in Heaven! he wants to answer our prayers! He wants to bless our lives! I know that God knows us personally and has specific answers ready for your specific problems and questions!
