Happy Fourth of July everyone!! Although the United States is great, I can not wait until I am in Norway! Only 11 days!!!!!!! Alright so now let's get into the week!!
| Celebrating the 4th |
Thursday
I went to the Temple for the last time for almost two years so I am a little sad, but on the bright side I am pretty sure I got almost every temple name I was given done!! Thank you for those that sent me names it was a real blessing to be able to do them!!
Friday
Well nothing too exciting today. We had some fun playing volleyball as usual! Some Elders and I did some exercise with them. Besides that nothing really that exciting happened
Saturday
We do service every Saturday morning and the Janitor we work with is one of my favorite people in the entire world!! His name is Diego and he is from Brazil so his English is not very good, but he loves telling us about his life. In fact he got engaged recently and showed us how he proposed to her and everything. Service is so much fun with him! I had an awesome experience practicing role playing with one of our teachers! We were about to start and I didn't have a scripture that could help someone who was struggling with if God would really help them! After randomly flipping open to Alma 38:5 and reading that, I randomly flipped open to 1 Nephi 9:6, and then realized I could tie that all together with 1 Nephi 3:7! It was crazy to see the spirit helping me to just find the exact scriptures that can answer that specific question in a book with so many pages!! We had a freedom devotional and then watched the fireworks while singing the National Anthem it was super fun!!
Sunday
This was an awesome Sunday! We had a fast and testimony meeting and I got to hear so many wonderful testimonies from those that are in my Branch! At the devotional the choir sang Joseph Smith's First Prayer and I felt the spirit so strongly testifying to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet that he saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. The whole reason I came on my mission is to bring other people to the happiness I have felt from this Gospel and I can not wait to share with the people of Norway the message of the Restoration and that God is our Loving Heavenly Father and that he does still call prophets in these latter days.
Monday
We did an English fast on Monday and let me tell you I learned two things. First I have the ability to speak Norwegian a lot of the time, instead of English. Second, there are a lot of words in Norwegian a I have no idea how to say them... I was able to memorize part of Helaman 5:12 in Norwegian. That scripture in Norwegian is a beast to memorize but it was way fun to memorize the first half!! We played "baseball" in the dorms. It consisted of someone with a waterbottle as a bat. I pitcher with a nerf basketball, and a catcher. It was fantastic!
Tuesday a.k.a America's Birthday
Literally I wish I could tell you we had an amazing day with fireworks and celebration, but this was literally one of the most average days I have had in a while hahahaha!! Well besides one of the Swedish Elders waking up and running around with an American flag on his back chanting USA at 6:30 in the morning hahaha! I finished memorizing Helaman 5:12, which was way cool!! I have some pictures of us in our Fourth of July stuff!!
Wednesday
We had a Skype TRC today, so we were supposed to Skype with someone in Norway! Well the people in charge of getting volunteers only thought we had three companionships, when we actually have five. Then two volunteers did not show up. Luckily since Sister Isaksen was born and is from Norway she was able to get us some people to talk to and teach!! We taught Jill Napp who served in Norway, she said she knew Brady. We then hosted new missionaries. There were 742 missionaries coming in. I hosted 8 missionaries, the most out of any person I know. It was an incredible experience to see so many missionaries ready to do the Lord's work!! I met so many awesome missionaries that are going to kill it in the mission field!! I will not lie though I was absolutely exhausted... We then helped and what is called People in Purpose. We just for 5 minutes do a door approach and get to know the investigator before we hand the towel off to the new missionaries to take care of the rest! We then went to class and learned more Norwegian!
I can not tell you how awesome it is to be in the MTC. I get to learn and grow everyday!! Learning Norwegian is one of the greatest blessings I have received in my entire life. It always me to remember to lean on the Savior for help but also remember that he gospel just needs to be taught simply. I love you all and I can not wait to go to Norway and teach the people there!! Remember who you are and why you are here!
