Today the doorbell rang and when I answered it there was a FedEx envelope laying on my doorstep. When I looked at the address label it was for Carter. We were not expecting anything for Carter and so I stood there for a minute thinking about who it could be from. Then I realized that it must be his mission call....but why was it sent overnight mail?? I looked at the return address and realized that it had come from the office of Elder Renlund. He had asked Carter a few months earlier to let him know when his mission papers were submitted because he would like to follow them as the assignment was made. Once the papers were submitted Carter sent him an email and we didn't think another thing of it until TODAY!! What a wonderful surprise.
I sent Carter a text at school and we quickly decided that 8:30 tonight he would open his mission call.
